Institutional Information

Transparency, integrity, and clarity in everything we do.

Institutional Overview

South Geauga Theological University (SGTU) was founded with a clear mission: to provide affordable, rigorous graduate theological education to students worldwide — particularly those in underserved communities and developing nations who lack access to traditional seminary programs.

We believe that financial barriers should never prevent a called minister, counselor, or theological scholar from pursuing graduate education. Our programs are designed to be academically serious, spiritually grounding, and globally accessible.

South Geauga Theology University is a Florida-registered religious institution operating under Florida Statute 1005.06(1)(f), as recognized by the Florida Department of Education, Commission on Independent Education (CIE).

This statute provides a legal framework for bona fide religious institutions to offer religious degree programs for religious vocational purposes. Institutions under this statute are authorized to confer religious degrees in the State of Florida.

Important Disclosures

  • SGTU is not regionally or nationally accredited.
  • Credits earned at SGTU may not transfer to regionally accredited colleges or universities. Transfer is at the discretion of the receiving institution.
  • Our degrees are religious in nature and are not designed to meet requirements for state clinical licensure.

Educational Philosophy

We believe that graduate theological education should be accessible, academically serious, and practically oriented toward ministry impact.

Many of our students are working ministers, healthcare chaplains, and community leaders who cannot relocate or pause their vocations for full-time residential study. Our programs are built for them — structured enough to maintain graduate rigor, flexible enough to respect the demands of active ministry.

We are committed to reaching students globally, especially those in lower-income communities and developing nations where access to seminary education remains limited. Affordable tuition, online delivery, and self-paced progression are not compromises — they are core to our mission.

Every program integrates biblical foundations, evidence-informed practice, and practical ministry application. We do not separate faith from scholarship — we believe they strengthen each other.
