How SGTU is structured, governed, and held accountable.

Institutional Status

South Geauga Theology University is an independent theological education institution registered in the State of Florida under Florida Statute 1005.06(1)(f), as recognized by the Florida Department of Education, Commission on Independent Education (CIE).

SGTU is not regionally or nationally accredited. Our programs are religious in nature and authorized under Florida's religious exemption statute for institutions providing religious vocational education. This status is transparently disclosed across our website, application materials, and student communications.

Institutional Leadership

Dean of Academic Affairs

Oversees all academic programs, curriculum development, faculty standards, and credential issuance. Responsible for maintaining academic rigor and alignment with the institutional mission.

Director of Admissions

Manages the student application pipeline, degree verification process, enrollment communications, and prospective student guidance. Primary point of contact for all admissions inquiries.

Registrar

Maintains official academic records, credential verification, transcript processing, and degree conferral. Responsible for data integrity and compliance with institutional policies.

Academic Oversight Model

Academic oversight at SGTU is managed through a structured review process:

  • All course curricula are developed and reviewed by qualified faculty with terminal degrees in their fields of instruction.
  • Program learning outcomes are defined for each degree level and reviewed on an annual cycle.
  • Student progress is tracked through the learning management system with automated milestone detection.
  • Credential issuance is governed by the milestone system — credentials are awarded only when academic requirements and admissions verification gates are satisfied.
  • Academic integrity cases are reviewed by the Dean of Academic Affairs with defined procedures for investigation and appeal.

Milestone-Based Issuance

Credentials are awarded automatically when course completion thresholds are met. No manual override without administrative review.

Admissions Verification Gates

Diploma and degree credentials require verified prior academic credentials (Bachelor's for Master's, Master's for PhD) before progression beyond the Certificate level.

Unique Credential Numbers

Every credential issued receives a unique, verifiable credential number (SGTU-XXX-YYYY-NNNNNN) that can be verified through our public verification portal.

Revocation Process

Credentials may be revoked in cases of academic integrity violations or fraudulent documentation. Revocation is recorded permanently and reflected in verification results.

Faculty Governance

All SGTU faculty hold graduate-level or terminal degrees in their fields of instruction. Faculty are selected based on their combination of academic credentials, professional experience, and demonstrated commitment to faith-integrated education.

Curriculum development, instructional quality, and assessment design are managed collaboratively between faculty and the Dean of Academic Affairs. Course content undergoes periodic review to ensure alignment with current scholarship, ministry practice, and institutional learning outcomes.
